GHOST GUMS - Vertical Slum cassette (VV017)

Ghost Gums are a Melbourne-based trio, with guitars by Ian Wadley and Samaan Fieck, and drums by Kishore Ryan.

'Vertical Slum' is their debut release, documenting two full set recordings from mid-2011, shows played in Melbourne and Dunedin. The Melbourne side was recorded at Art Beat, an artist-run space, where Ghost Gums shared the bill with notable Melbourne improvisors Ren Walters and Rod Cooper; the other side was recorded at the groups 2nd show, supporting The Aesthetics and Mad Nanna at the Crown Hotel in Dunedin.

At the time, Samaan was on bass in Mad Nanna and Ian was on drums (he still is); Samaan and Kishore are also active in Where Were You At Lunch; Samaan also plays guitar, and manipulates tape reels, in Smash Tennis. Ian Wadley has also been an active solo guitarist (since the break-up of Bird Blobs) usually playing minimal spontaneous improvisations.

TREEHOUSE - Interzone LP (VV016)

Vacant Valley is proud to present the vinyl edition of the Interzone album by Hobart trio, Treehouse

'Interzone' was recorded in Hobart by Simon Maisch (Wasted Idol, Manchester Mourning).

A cassette edition of around 100 copies were self made and released by the band .
They subsequently did a brief tour of east coast Australia in support of this release.
A few months on, the album has been re-issued on vinyl with new artwork and a special insert.

PER PURPOSE - 'Eureka' cassette (VV015)

Vacant Valley release number fifteen is a cassette from the Brisbane rock band Per Purpose. Both sides each hold the one track, recorded during the sessions for their forthcoming debut LP, 'Circle The Stains'. The track, entitled Eureka, is a bold, driving piece of ardent melodrama, suggesting indisposition and pained hindsight. This recording is exclusive to this release and is also the first to feature second guitarist Mitchel Perkins (Cured Pink, Psy Ants).

Limited to just 100 copies.
